It's rare but it happens. For an extreme example check out January 1969.

Once I saw the forecast I actually couldn't help but to experience it myself. Booked a quick two-day trip to Chicago so that I could see the epicness. According to my Iphone this is how much walking I did in over there on Wednesday (the best day):

Not something to be enjoyed? lol. By far, it was one of the most epic trips of my life. Never thought I'd get to experience that kind of cold & wind in a major metropolis.

I'll bet your opinion is in the minority of the general population and of course not on American weather forums where extremists dominate.

I am perfectly happy with constant weather stability and staying close to averages.

I'm sure it has happened, but I just feel that the Euro, CFSv2, and GFS have a better handle on this February. At least the first couple weeks of it.

GEFS says cold takes over in the 6-10 and especially in the 11-15

Loop last 4 hours. 12-4pm today.

Watch the darker radar returns hit Atlantic City. That's when it accumulated.

Temps in the low 20s across Northern Virginia. 50s in North Carolina.

The snow kept those areas in the teens across PA and NJ!

That's only because you're sane and reasonable.

The jackass weather heads at NWS put their noses out the door, recognized that it was still snowing, and kept raising the advisory's projected ending time.

Shucks, I could do that.

Lol. Yup, hearing reports that some areas are getting more than thought. It happens. Details like amounts are so hard to forecast. Nobody knows who will over perform or under perform.

In South NJ.
