Had maybe 15 minutes of moderate to heavy snow in Suffolk, it has stopped and the sky looks to be clearing up.

The temperature is free falling however, 10 degrees in roughly 15 minutes, we usually only see such drops during thunderstorms.

My condolences.

I’m afraid of what an airmass such as that one would do here.

Amazing the difference snow can make with the cold.

Northern Indiana with 4-8 inches of snow on the ground got up to -13 today and looking at a low of -20 tonight. Here in Indianapolis with no snow we got up to 2 above today and looking at a low of -7 tonight. Same conditions as we both had a day of sunshine. The main difference was a deep snow pack.

Sometimes when it's ultra cold the moisture from power plants and the exhaust fans from buildings can be enough to cause snow. That's why many places in the Midwest are reporting "haze". All moisture is trying to freeze out. Up north in a place like northern Manitoba that moisture was frozen out a long time ago so it can get clearer skies.

It's supposed to be really cold here Monday night - low around -6C for now. If it snows, it could create a huge mess on the road. We will see. They keep changing the forecast for Monday from sunny to snowy to sunny to snowy.

Looks to be coldest on Monday and Tuesday. Models are still up in the air regarding the surface low forecast to form on Sunday afternoon.

Looks like the snow will wind down for Metro Vancouver on Sunday night. Could continue thru Monday for you guys. In that case, you guys in Seattle have a good shot of a subfreezing high on Monday.

Up here in Vancouver, it looks to be sunny and quite cold after the initial shot of snow on Sunday. Temps possibly down below -10C on Monday night.

The SMHI forecast of -20°C overnight backfired spectacularly as the northerlies didn't gain any traction at all down here on the coast. Although some interior areas have fallen to -13°C, the ice-free Baltic Sea exterior has influenced the temperatures to remain stable around -7°C from 4 pm to now after midnight. One of those occasions where the maritime influence truly is felt. Northern and Central Sweden are rather cold tonight though, and I'd assume that also goes for my former university residence of Örebro in the middle of the country between those four major lakes.

Well the environment Canada station was -39.9 while the navcanada station hit -40.
