Only four days have been colder in Chicago.... So far today is tied for the 4th coldest day in on record in Chicago with January 17th 1982, and December 24th 1872
Only Jan. 20, 1985 -27F Jan. 10, 1982 -26F Jan. 16, 1982 -25F Dec. 24, 1983 -25F have been colder

Alberta in the banana belt once again. Winnipeg at -39.8°C at 7:00am. It's almost certainly dropped below the magic -40°C/-40°F at some point during the night.
Models do suggest Edmonton's time is coming this weekend.
Weatheronline seems to get their forecasts straight from the models without any human insight. It's going to get cold but seriously doubt it will get this cold!
