Those areas are 2000 ft + above sea level. This storm was a total bust for Atlanta. 0 snow there so far and temps still above freezing as of 12 noon.

How is it a bust when Atlanta wasn't even part of the winter end of it?

Yup, I figured but NWS issues the warnings where population will be affected. So at least the roads that are used were within the warning areas and I'm sure where some population lives seen the snowstorms? 13 sounded like a lot though and I didn't expect it.

Here is last year by this time. 10 for NE MN? And their criteria for warnings isn't low I think.

Been snowing lightly over Morristown, Teterboro, and Newark, New Jersey area past couple hours but NYC and Newark is light drizzle now.

Yes, I see you Speagles...more snow there.

Haven’t had any snow here since the Jan 1-2 storm. Patten over the next two weeks looks promising though so hopefully it happens again.

Yes, I-90 (an interstate) at Snoqualmie Pass and US2 at Stevens Pass are heavily used highways to cross the mountains or go to the ski areas. They are affected by winter weather a lot from November to March and chains are required often on that route.

This is Snoqualmie Pass (Interstate 90).

Current temps. 2pmEST! There's the Vortex! Looks cold down south too. 40s? I forget whats normal now.

But wow!!! -20s North Dakota and Minnesota this afternoon WITH SUN! I believe with sun. Many stations reporting "haze".

A look at the temps at 5000'. When I see white colors entering the U.S that's pretty cold Arctic air (-20C).
-30C airmass at mid levels is special to see. But I never seen those darker blues at -40C. That is pure Polar stuff right there.

Closer look

Current Wind Chill Values!

My software is capped at -50F.

It feels like this at 1pm??? Looks cold in Iowa let alone north of there. I hope farmers were ready for this.

This isn't capped. http://www.mesonet.org/index.php/wea...ir_temperature
