Overcast and drizzly this morning in Indy. Going to be a dreary day with temps not really budging much from the current 36 degrees which is now pretty close to our normal high. Winter Weather Advisories to our northwest across northern Illinois and NW Indiana due to freezing drizzle this morning. Sunshine returns tomorrow and for much of the next few days with 50s returning by the weekend. No chance of snow in the 7-day.

Currently 20°C and sunny in Marbella, Spain. Record high for January is 21°C, so it's exceptionally warm.

Rainy and 36 degrees. So happy it's not below freezing as they originally predicted it.

Incredible to see an Upper Low over Arizona for days on end now. WOW.

But see that ridge popping north? That will shift east next couple days. But then another cutoff Low comes Monday to SouthWest and again next weekend. WTF. Dips keep happening out west.

Hard Freezes this morning.

Current 6am temps

Zoomed in. Snowing again at the Arizona-Mexico border. Look at the California coast!

SF currently 42. Sunny today up to 55. 42 is not *that cold* for SF, it can sometimes get into the upper 30's. The surrounding 58 degree ocean and bay is keeping SF from getting too cold.

LA currently 40. Sunny today up to 64. 40 is chilly for LA, some of the stations further out are cooler but I presume the UHI is keeping LA well above freezing.

The real news out West is an impending storm. By Saturday both SF and LA get in on a very big storm system. The lows will be slightly warmer but the highs will be cooler then, with LA not getting out of the 50's.

We've always had PV splits and we have had years where it meant no winter for us. See next post

GFS and Canadian aren't as bullish on warmth over the US but all three show cold in Europe
