BWI Airport 71.82" precip in 2018. Normal 41.88". If the precip trend continues throughout the winter, I'm growing wings and going south.
Can't wait for the long drought. I'll bet you'll hear me and others saying "we need rain, where is it" after some time.. lol. I do prefer droughts over this.

Just checked my total and looks like I will end up with 60.79" for the year though I think the airport will have close to 67 inches. Interesting that there is over a six inch difference.
Rain started 3:30pm, ended 3:30am. 1.49" Actually that will go towards 2019's total since we report at 7am.
For Bridgeport at the coast its 73.93" in 1972. 2018 is 2nd wettest with 60.40". So we're pretty much "up there" with the record most.
The Svealand region at 2 pm today. In spite of a lot of the weather being clear, the heavy Atlantic winds have created rather unusual conditions of a January clear afternoon with temps either at or above freezing all over the region. It varies between isolated areas at 0°C to 3°C. General air temp over the open sea is at 4°C, which is rather close to the interior temps compared to a normal clear January afternoon.
Northern Europe in full at the same time on New Years' Day 2 pm Central European Time. This shows that there is no clear cold source nearby at the moment, resulting in the mild-ish weather continuing for a bit, given that Russia isn't as cold as it was around Christmas.
Short Sleeves day but temp will be dropping as the front/drier air comes in! Syracuse went from 52 to 37 last couple hours.
Where's the moisture feed coming from? Follow the Flow...........Pacific. Look at the jet stream diving down to Mexico. Unbelievable. Look at that arctic air pushing south over Montana. This isn't going to change either. Something has to change over the Pacific!
Edit: Did I see something on December 7th? Something that was the start of this pattern??? Was something happening that was showing us there would be no ridge out west??

But whats interesting is that even with that Ridge out West, its not hot under it! Usually I see like +10C, there's no warmth under it. Dry yes, but no warmth. Maybe it was a sign the ridge out west was too weak and that left open for the Jet stream to dig south instead?
Spoiler
