Nope it was fine. De-icing took maybe 40-45 mins max. At 650 mph it only takes ~80 mins to get back to NYC, well within the listed flight times. Only once I had a problem with de-icing: last week on a flight from Yellowknife to Calgary. There it was -25 C. In the end we got a 3 hour delay, missed a connection, but made it back reasonably well.

Forecast looks like ass next week with 3-4 days of 10C+. Hopefully the pattern corrects itself by March as those CFS and Euro runs suggest, otherwise bye winter.

Real heat is coming back with mid 80's inland to my area soon. Winter is over rover and i expect this Feb to be dry and hot like last Feb that blew out the record books with near 90's almost the whole month. I don't expect this Feb to be as hot as last Feb.

Looks like a great pattern upcoming for the western with multiple chances for snow here in Tucson. As of today it appears Tucson has roughly a 40% chance of receiving snowfall of some kind over the next 16 days.

This was just brought up in a tweet by NWS/Chicago

Wow a wonderful spring day in Nebraska. Were those stations involved in the polar vortex or were they too far west? Looks like chinook wind is doing a great job there. From lows in the teens to highs in the mid 60's. Starts off in parka ends up in short sleeve.

The Great Plains, while horrible for weather mostly, feature one thing I like and that's no matter how cold it is, if the winds are southerly or westerly off the mountains a great warm up can happen.

Florida returning to normal that's good. AZ can now start to heat up now that there is an extra hour or two of sun from its winter minimum. Usually the first 80's can be expected in February there. Southern CA cool because of a large storm system but it's bringing copious rain so that's good. Southern IL thawing out that's good they probably need a break.

Currently 59 in Austin with 59 dewpoint. High of 69 expected. Humidity has risen to 42% in my house (70F), much better. Furnace still kicked on this morning but it should be off most of the day. Tonight will be low of 59 so it may still kick on but hoping it won't kick on tomorrow night with low of 62. Then I can finally get the humidity up more, hoping it gets to 50% naturally.

Will be chopping firewood. Hopefully I can work up a good sweat. Will be in shorts and t-shirt.
