LA River is a torrent right now:

https://twitter.com/ABC7Veronica/sta...e%2F5118994%2F

Seattle unseasonably cold with heavy snow in the 20's.
SF unseasonably cool with heavy rain in the 40's (46F).
LA unseasonably cool with heavy rain in the 50's (56F).

Big big trough out West.
Big ridge out East. Austin is currently 71 on the way to 74 with mostly cloudy skies. Dewpoint is 64.

Dallas is sunny and 78 on the way to 80 (jealous of them they have full sun), Houston cloudy and 74, New Orleans cloudy and 72. Chicago cloudy and 51, NYC sunny and 57. NYC is warmer than LA. Chicago is warmer than SF. Big big change from one week ago.

Temperature anomalies since the start of meteorological winter

So far nothing what many forecasters and models expected, but we still have 24 days left. LOL

Is there any year literally where the west coast is forecasted to be below average. I mean this is getting laughable. How long can this go on year after year where they are way above average. Something is a miss in the climate system. it didn't used to be like this.

Very true. I think as long as the west is in drought conditions then it will continue to see many more above average months than below.

And I'm sure the positive anomalies that have dominated the Pacific SSTs also play a big role too as systems move from west to east.

It's excellent weather for any time of the year, enjoy it while it lasts. No sign of temps that high any time soon here, although it was 14.3°C today.

Seattle got pummeled today.... hearing reports of a widespread 10-25cm. Temps well below freezing during the day.

Meanwhile....cold, dry and windy to the north in Vancouver. About 2cm of snow on the ground.

A very nasty 10C and humid here in Toronto. If it's mild I prefer it dry.

Humid weather is only appropriate if it's over 20C.
