Wow, well perhaps because it was for a whole two month extension which would be the typical GOP "fix". Exactly which economic indicators are pointing toward everything being better in two months?
The two-month extension -- which you characterize as the "typical GOP 'fix'" -- would have been twice as long as the last three temporary fixes Democrats offered for extending the eligibility cut-off dates.
In the past, the Democrats have rountinely offered 30-day "fixes" and passed them because of the impasse that had been reached on the chamber floors. In fact, the recently expired eligibility cut-off dates -- end of May/early June -- were set by 30-day legislation proposed by the Democrats.
Nobody suggested that these short-term extensions point to any improvement in the economy. They simply provide money to the people who need it -- the unemployed -- and give the legislators more time to develop law to provide long-term benefits.

The federal government transfers funds to the states' accounts on the next business day after the bill becomes law. How quickly the states get those funds to claimants will vary from state to state -- typically depending upon the condition of the UI system in each state and the size of the backlog of payments due in that state.

Well it looks like the Senate can start to work on the extension on July 12th.

My only question now is will the senate go ahead with the new house bill for standalone unemployment, or are they going to push 4213 through and we will have to wait as it goes back to the house?
