That is the deadline to transition from State Benefits to Federal EUC Benefits AS OF NOW. TIERS have until 2/27/10 to do so. Your balance will exhausted and you will go to Tier I.

Great post and active thread to follow on the subject:

EUC Tiers I, II, III, and IV
For EUC Tier I, II, III, and IV benefits, the original legislation had an eligibility cut-off date of December 31, 2009 (usually referred to as the "deadline"). This meant that you had to begin collecting a Tier of benefits before December 31, 2009, in order to exhaust that Tier -- and you could not start a new Tier in 2010.

The new legislation lengthens the eligibility cut-off date by two months to February 28, 2010. So jobless whose benefits would otherwise be exhausted during the first two months of 2010 can now start a new Tier (or Tiers) of benefits through the first two months of 2010. The legislation did not change the length (number of benefit weeks) in any of the four Tiers.

I believe you covered this, but just to be clear the cut-off date to transition from regular UI to Tier 1 is 2/20/10. For all other tiers it is 2/27/10 as you suggested.

Default re:

My last call in day for my first 26 weeks of benefits is on 2/10.
I already checked and I'm eligible for the tier 1 extension.
Will the funds for tier 1 automatically show up in my account shortly after the original 26 week balance exhausts?
I just want to make sure that the transition to tier 1 goes smoothly.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Hi:

This depends upon how your state handles this. In PA under normal circumstances the extension monies just get transferred (as long as you sign up) but I know that every state has different rules. Some states make you open an "emergency" claim. They will notify you but it's not always rec'd before you are due $$$. Best to call them and put in for a call-back when you get to that point. Especially right now with the EUC monies needing a vote every few months. Good fortune to you!

Just FYI, the last question on this thread -- to which you responded -- was posted back in January 2010. It's unlikely it will be of interest to the original poster any longer. In the future, you may want to check the posting dates on the threads -- and share your knowledge with those in need of more immediate help. Just a thought...
