Free country. No worse than a MAGA hat, and less obvious, to be honest.

My local food co-op has a masked hour (8-9 AM) for people to shop who are more comfortable if everyone is masked. I think it's a nice compromise and if I needed to do a grocery run first thing in the morning, I would be happy to wear a mask during this time (I otherwise don't).

Yes, good compromise. I remember in 2020 some stores had senior hours early in the morning (6-7 MA?) so people who are more affected could avoid crowds.

More good news about the severity of the current variants circulating, and the probable efficacy of the upcoming booster against it.

The Beth Israel study also found that the immune response is robust against all variants — including BA.2.86 — after exposure to an XBB infection, which would likely include anyone who contracted COVID since December 2022. That’s particularly good news for the upcoming booster, which is set to be released mid-September and was formulated based on XBB.1.5.
