Looking at the GFS12z Max Temp Maps. No 80s north of NYC until August 25th.
Agrees with Euro.

Is that possible? I think if the sun is out some local spot will get into the 80s for sure like you know.... BDL the Jumbo Jet hot spot. LOL

But bottom line, most of the day could be in the 70s going forward till end of month? Crazy

lol. Hasn't been for 100+ yrs in the area. Maybe 300 yrs ago, who knows.

All it takes is below freezing air from the Pole to bleed down. Problem is this time of year there is a lot working against us..

The Sun
Ocean Temps
And freezing line is north of the Hudson bay.

So what has to happen is either a strong push from there directly towards us before it moderates...OR.. a strong enough storm to drop the below freezing air from well above. Don't hold your breath...

But all seriousness... all you need is the level at 2000 feet to be below freezing and the surface in the low 40s and you will see snow fall. Currently the freezing level is at 13,000 feet, was at 7000 feet couple days ago.

Mt Washington sees snow in August and September. They are at 6200 feet.

I really want a big snowstorm in August before I leave CT. Hopefully Rochester will deliver a very strong winter...

Really? You are not to far from Danbury. This is pretty impressive for mid August. High of 73 today with an overnight low of 50.

Danbury had the lowest High today only getting to 73°. Bridgeport & BDL 78°

I'm Wondering what happened in 1992 that BDR saw 3 days in a row August 15-17 with the max staying in the 60s. Wow! Hard to beat that

Had to run the ac last night. Looks like the clouds kept the temps up there. Didn't cool off last night at all here.

Me too.. Goodbye 50s for lows. I stayed in the 60s and there was no wind as usual! So no breeze. A/C on all night.

Here we are passing Mid August and....

Bridgeport CT with just 1 90°+ day still. (amazing!)

Windsor Locks with 10.

Boston with 4. Last time was 2004

Albany with 4 last time was 2009

Lexington Kentucky 12. In 2009 there was only 7. In 2004 NONE.

Philly with 15. In 2009 only 15. In 2004 Only 9. Only 9 times since 1970 they had 15 or less 90s for the year

It's been since 2004 where NYC hasn't had a warmer temp than 91

---- It sounds like this year/summer is matching up with 2009 and 2004

Just plotted the Number of 90° or warmer days so far in 2014.

I'll fill in more areas next month. Windsor Locks, CT still the oddball with 10. Same amount as Newark, NJ
