Welcome to the new Weather in Connecticut thread. The purpose of this thread is to discuss weather here in Connecticut. There will be no tolerance of off topic discussions, bickering or flaming of other posters. You must be respectful to others or your post will be deleted AND infractions issued. If you feel a post is against the rules of this forum, you should report it using the "Report Post" icon in the upper right corner of the post. You should not comment on the post or the poster. If these rules and the rules of this forum are not followed, infractions will be issued. I hate having to make these warnings at the beginning of a new thread but given the issues with the other weather thread we had going, I feel it is necessary to do this. Thank you in advance for your posts here. JayCT, Moderator

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving Day.

Looking ahead we stay in the chill today and tomorrow then start to warm back up to seasonable levels. There are signs pointing to a little wintry precip Sunday and Tuesday. Nothing big but something to put us into the winter holiday mood.

NWS Boston says snow to start Saturday night before the warm air moves in then maybe change to ice. Very light stuff, nothing to worry about. Then have to watch the storm for Tuesday. Could either be too far away to bring heavy precip or bring enough snow for some accumulations.

SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY...
LARGE HIGH PRESSURE MOVING OFF THE COAST WILL ALLOW FOR A RETURN
SOUTHERLY FLOW OF MILDER AIR TO WORK INTO THE REGION. THIS WARM
AIR WILL INITIALLY BE FORCED UP AND OVER THE COLD DOME AT THE
SURFACE...RESULTING IN SOME SCATTERED LIGHT PRECIPITATION BREAKING
OUT LATE SAT NIGHT INTO SUN. SHOULD INITIALLY BE COLD ENOUGH FOR A
PERIOD OF SCATTERED LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS
ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION.
WARMER AIR MOVING IN ALOFT AND AT THE SURFACE SHOULD TURN MOST
AREAS OVER TO SCATTERED LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS BY AFTERNOON
. ITS
POSSIBLE THAT SOME OF THE COLD AIR GETS TRAPPED AT THE SURFACE
ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE INTERIOR HIGHER TERRAIN FOR A BRIEF
TIME...RESULTING IN SOME PATCHY FREEZING DRIZZLE BEFORE A
TRANSITION TO ALL LIQUID
.

PRECIPITATION LOOKS TO BE QUITE LIGHT AND SCATTERED LATE SAT NIGHT
INTO SUN. ANY SNOW ACCUMULATIONS SHOULD GENERALLY BE A COATING TO
LESS THAN 1 INCH
. THIS STILL MAY RESULT IN SOME SLIPPERY SPOTS
ACROSS THE INTERIOR FOR A TIME SUN MORNING.

MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY...
AT THIS TIME...MOST GUIDANCE TRACKS THE LOW EAST OF THE BENCHMARK. ODDS FAVOR THE SYSTEM REMAINING TOO FAR OFFSHORE TO RESULT IN A SIGNIFICANT RAIN OR SNOW EVENT FOR OUR REGION.

Seems like a quiet week coming up. That rain storm the other day was kind of a bust, too.

PNA forecasted to flip back to negative by first week in December. It will be interesting to see if that leads to a downstream rise in heights aloft in the Northeast. NAO and AO look to stay closer to neutral within one standard deviation.

Another impressive cold day across the area staying near normal lows during the day.

With a mean of 44.4° at Bridgeport, this November is now 20th coldest November on record so far.

November 2012 was 10th coldest.

Thanks a lot for those links. I just bookmarked them! It's crazy how this state is covered by 3 nws office's. Kind of ridiculous. Only one nws office should cover us. Hartford should have it's own nws that covers the whole state

Cambium, will we have a decent sized snow storm anytime soon? I'm talking at least 6 inches haha...(enough to have a day off from work!)

NP. Your welcome. I figured it's a good resource to have. Maybe others will add some more they feel is important.

Soon. With the way the pattern is going the chances are much higher now.. Not just by Calendar but by the overall pattern.

December 3-4 storm still showing up but details unknown..

Here's what latest GFS says for Windsor Locks.
Drizzle, snowshowers, little ice, back to light rain then all snow. 0.53" of snow would be about 3-5" at 8:1 ratios.
