Gonna be a memorable Christmas eve with power outages. Low Level Jet screaming.

85mph+ at 5000 feet. You know some of that will mix down to the surface. Also, heavy rains with a snowpack = flooding. Rapid temp drop = flash freeze

Future radar loop. Memorable Christmas Eve for some.

Blizzard going on today in Nebraska, Dakota, Minnesota

Rain changes to snow tomorrow for Ohio, PA & WV

Heavy rains over a snowpack, Squall line, warm 50s, strong winds for points East, and then a rush of cold air on Christmas Day

A look at the radar past 4 hrs and the temps. It's in the single digits with snow in Western Minnesota right now. Lucky them! 20s with snow in Nebraska!

You may see some snowflakes, but it won’t accumulate.

at 2PM 57F here and at both Chicago airports. 59F in the southwest suburbs (Joliet). Very windy too.

As of yesterday ORD +6.3F for the month.

However January could be DRAMATICALLY different

Funny on Christmas we will be warmer here in upstate NY near Albany than Orlando Florida lol. Very funny but a lot of warm air is coming which with the heavy rain will mean pretty much that 3 feet we got which has melted already a lot will be probably be close to gone. Then it will unfortunately freeze quickly which won’t be nice. Would be nice to keep getting snow but each winter it seems the lows want to go through the Great Lakes and bring all the rain and warmth to us.

My snow forecast of 1-3 inches for tomorrow evening and tomorrow night just got increased to 3-5 inches. We’re currently under a Winter Storm Warning.

Here are the NWS maps for my region, with the predicted snowfall, and then the high end & low end potential:

So there is almost a 100% chance that I see a White Christmas.
