" ULL moves across the US, but is not a true southern slider. How strong the low is, how much moisture it has, the exact path it takes, and more importantly the cold it has available for snow is unknown. Now we watch"

This week's forecast in Yakutsk looks even more brutal than the one I posted last week in a different thread. -55C for Monday morning. We're talking about possible three-decade lows in a city of 300k+ that's not necessarily equipped to deal with it.
That's a tricky cold to deal with. I can deal with temps down to -40 just fine, but once you get below that (especially into the -50s), the main trouble is that it's hard to tell just how cold it is. One's extremities often do not feel pain even as they freeze. With the wrong gear, that kind of cold can quickly penetrate one's shoes and cause frostbite without the person even being aware of it.
Happened to me once (a result of idling around rather than keeping the body moving) but thankfully it was warm enough (-35C) that only the skin was affected, and healed in a couple months.

If you really love the cold that much, maybe you should consider relocating to a more favorable climate; that’s what I did, and I love it. I’d much rather contend with the winters in Fort Worth or anywhere in the Deep South for that matter as I hate the bitter cold temperatures that follow winter storms. Maybe you should move to somewhere like Alaska, maybe then you wouldn’t gripe and complain about the non winters in New York City.

I'm pretty sure Americans can move to Svalbard, Norway without a visa. Average high of -4.7C. 78 degrees North, polar night from November to February. Sounds like it'd be perfect for a good number of posters here. They got internet and all the mod cons there on account of being part of Norway. Save some money and buy a cabin there.
Was 65 when we left the Keys this morning. Pretty rough for a January morning
Explored a lot of the Everglades. Basically in the low 70s the entire time although the car thermometer did hit 76 once. Just a beautiful day, love south Florida in the winter.
More of the same tomorrow driving around Tampa/St Pete. Unfortunately back north on Thursday. Although honestly not that bad. 50s most of the time in GA. Low 50s when we get back and cloudy.
Another complete non-winter in the Ohio Valley in the books, even worse than the non-winter last year if that's possible.
Well i went 10 years without a winter. At least the last 6 weeks have been cooler than normal. But that is gonna end fast. Today in 1977 we had real snow in Tampa back when we had real winters.
High was 68-69f today in Fresno
So, like, 12-14f above average
Not bad
Rain will be coming in a few days!
