The disaster non-winter continues on the 12Z GFS for all areas south of I-70 east of the Mississippi River. Every single thing that could have possibly gone wrong has already occurred so far. Absolutely pathetic that the lowest temperature has only been 14F so far this season.

The coldest Indianapolis has been so far has only been 10 F. Amazing how much warmer your location is than Indianapolis isn’t it, Despite only being an hour or two south of Indianapolis? even Fort Worth Texas hasn’t gotten any colder than 25 F, which if it is the coldest it gets down here would make this winter a solid hardiness zone 9!!!

Lows would have easily been subzero here if there was even one decent long-lasting ridge off the West Coast. It didn't even happen once this year.

Beats my 36f. I never even get to 32f anymore. Or see highs in the 40's. Dec was the only month below normal for years. Jan is a tiny bit below normal at this time but after some warm days it will be above normal.

Grateful things this winter so far:

No bad torch pattern
Not much rain events

Only 1 day in the 50s this month? Usually we have a few.
So at least its staying cold/chilly. Just need some snow asap!

Indianapolis has seen no days in the 50’s so far this January . Fort Worth Texas usually makes it to 70+ several times in January; That has yet to occur this year.

Missing Florida already. Went through a front as we drove back north. Was in the low 50s and windy for the last couple of hours. Now in the upper 40s but it shouldn't be getting that cold. In fact, tomorrow should hit 60 and be sunny. Mid 50s and sunny Saturday. Then maybe mid 60s and sunny on Tuesday!
Looking at the 15 day forecast, the lowest temp I see is 33...

Near Nashville, TN. Haven't been below 17 F / -8 C all winter, but haven't been below 16 F / -9 C since January 18, 2018 (that day hit 9 F / -13 C).

This is a record for longest spread between temperatures below -10 C / 14 F (surpassing the record of Feb. 16, 1920 to Feb. 18, 1923).

Also, this isn't a "winter" thing, but we need a 100 F / 38 C day. July 8, 2012 was the last time we hit 100. The last gap this large was July 11, 1969 to July 12, 1980.

I don't like this milquetoast stuff. I need some serious cold soon, and I'm not seeing it in the forecast. Hopefully February won't be a Failbruary like the last four have.
I was thinking the same thing for Atlanta for the cold. We had that cold snap around Christmas with a low of 21 and a high of just 32, but other than that, Nov only hit freezing once. January has only gotten down to 25 with no freezes period in the forecast. It's going on 3 years that KPDK has been below 20 degrees when the typical seasonal min is 15. On the flip side of that, we haven't had warm highs this winter either. Dec's max was 68 vs the normal 71. Jan so far has only hit 66 vs typical 70. Seems like we've just been more stable. Not getting those deep shots of cold air nor are we getting that strong southerly flow that precedes them.

Also I checked cause I haven't been in Atlanta for the summers of '17-'19 and yea, we haven't hit 100 at KPDK since 2016
