40 here but no sun. Sounds of drips. Had 4.5" on ground this morning. Wonder what I'll have tomorrow. Maybe 3.0?

Sounds like the front is faster to move across or the source of your forecast weighs more on the GFS.

Heres what NWS NY says..

The global models continue to come into better agreement, through
timing differences on the passage of the front through the area
still remain. The ECMWF remains on the slow side, with the front
coming through late morning on Friday. The GFS is on the faster
side, bringing the front through by Thursday evening
Edit... sky broke. Clear blue now. Beautiful sight.

We might get some light snow on Christmas Eve which would be nice.

Will feel quite cold too

Could enter in a top of coldest christmas there?

Meanwhile, Euro seeing massive snowfalls across much of Europe in a week, with Milano having several inches and even some in Paris!

Where in Chicagoland? Not even close I'm not sure about the Deep South.

Meanwhile look at Siberia and Asia

Troughing over Alaska is limiting any long duration cold for the eastern two thirds and the ridge over Greenland is too far east and will impact Europe more than us.

Just for fun the CFSv2 is showing drought for my region in the spring of 2021 and also the summer thanks to the La Nina. We shall see.

I have seen from the twitter feed of the nws Miami that La Nina has a strong connection to the winter weather in S. Florida, and the strong connection is for dry and warm conditions. I assume they mean La Nina causes a southeast ridge.

If we are in La Nina, why is the SE ridge not in existence this winter at all so far?

Today was another beautiful clear day in the upper 50s. Didn't quite hit 60. We're definitely not Florida, but when you have a day like today, you realize winter here is not that bad normally. Unfortunately we've been having plenty of below avg weather.

Weather was nice here. In the mid 40’s and sunny. Refreshing winter day. Here is snow from Rockland county, NY:

This is for Christmas Eve night 1am... Santa is going to be wet but some areas that have this crazy front pass through will see the changeover to snow. We'll see if the Big Cities see any change to snow. Would be Christmas morning.

To be officially a White Christmas for the Climo Sites they need snow on ground Christmas Day 7am since that's when they do the measurements.

So You got Warm, Strong South Winds, Rain and even Thunderstorms on one side, and Cold, North Winds, Snow on the other side.

Love/Hate these Sharp Fronts.

I think Euro is winning...AGAIN! GFS looks to be slower with the front. How does that Euro model do it??
If you click on "previous Run" on Tropical TidBits you'll see the differences for that same time frame. Notice how much further East the front was with previous runs. GFS had all that money put in to upgrade it and still cannot compete with the Euro. incredible.

Here... See it? Same time...past 5 runs. Each run was slower and slower with the front.
