I beg to differ. Winter should be sunny with highs in the 60s&70s imo
Maybe to you. To me it should be huge swings in temps from around 80f to low 40's for highs and heavy rain and 40 knts winds every few days for 3 months. Warm it up and bring heavy T - storms and get some lows of low 20's and then warm up for a few days and re pete it. Make it cloudy for a few days in a row and then sunny for a few days.
Past week has been really good here, at least by our crappy warm coastal standards. We haven't been above 40F in 6 days. Haven't been above 35 in 4 days. Snowpack is persisting. I've been going on long walks every day. I wish it could stay like this (or colder) for 10 months a year.
Made it up to 60 with clear skies. I actually set up the TV outside and sat on the porch in the sun. Great day for mid-December. Unfortunately some high clouds are moving through. Hard to tell if the sun will come back out in full force. Without the direct sun, it gets chilly fast.
This has been the only month i have liked this year. About time after many years.
We will be staying well above average for another few days but then drop dramatically around Christmas Eve and likely for the remainder of the last few days of the month. Not enough to reverse the positive anomalies but hopefully a sign that January will be much different.
I'm actually surprised there's a chance at all for a white Christmas here given it's meant to be like 60 on Christmas Eve. But there is that chance that when the cold front moves through on Christmas Day the tail end of the precipitation going with it will be snow which will actually stick given temps will be dropping into the 20s by the afternoon. If the timing is just right, you may have a snow cover on Christmas Day evening.
