0.9 inches of rain this evening. Freeze expected by sunrise. Highs will struggle to reach 40 F tomorrow afternoon. It will be the coldest Christmas in a long time.
Already down to freezing as of 10 PM (wind chill 26F). Thinking it may get colder than the 30F low that NWS is forecasting. Never got past 44F during the day today though high was 53F because of temp around midnight last night. High tomorrow of 51F.
The south is cold and wet instead of warm and dry. The northeast is warmer than normal rather than being around normal.
What ever happened to La Niña this winter ?
40F+ drop in temps over 24 hours. Christmas Eve was the first truly cold day this month with our first subfreezing high temp. Fifth latest occurring subfreezing high on record for Chicago
What a terrible December it's been so far. A blow torch and no snow. Well at least it's cold on Christmas Maybe January will be better in the snow department. Skilling says it should open warmer than average but dramatically so.
European showing near normal temps here for the first few days of January but then the weeklies show lots of high latitude blocking beyond that. This should be good for mid latitude snow and cold lovers The only problem is that the Euro weeklies have been awful. So who knows..
