Next Friday doesn't look as cold down here as today is. The trough will be weaker I assume.
Check it out. Trend past 5 runs for Friday morning. Here we go again! 540 line digging south a little more on the most recent run and more snow for Ohio Valley. The location of the Low has changed too.
6"+ swath of snow from Alabama to Upstate NY
I don't mind snowfall continuing in the OV but I hope the pattern shifts East so we get some here too!
Mount holly is averaging a high of 46 F in December with mostly warm rain to end the month. That’s not too bad compared to Buffalo or Montreal.
The average high in Mount holly is 37 F for January. After seeing that, anything above 45 feels rather warm.
Sheesh they have been above average haven't they. We're already up to 40 and should get another 4-5 degrees. Once the sun comes around to the west side of my apartment it should feel pretty nice. I remember several years ago we had that high of 24/25 and got down into the single digits at night. A couple of days later and 45 felt rather balmy. There's definitely such a thing as acclimating to the weather, but I'd still rather just not deal with the cold to begin with lol
Area Forecast Discussion

A storm system of Pacific origin and its upper level dynamics will
get suppressed over the southwest as it amplifies during mid week,
then emerge out of Texas and the Gulf states. This will allow lower
latitudinal air to get channeled northward along the Eastern seaboard
late in the week for Thursday into Friday. Surface low pressure will
track well west of the area, not too dissimilar from what happened
previously for the Christmas holiday. This will put the area on the
warm side of the storm system. As its complex frontal boundary
approaches expect another significant rain event along with the
potential for strong gusty winds closer to the coast is on the
table. The synoptic set up does appear to favor another strong LLJ
impacting the area approaching late Thursday night into Friday
morning. Behind this frontal system high pressure to our southwest
should gradually build across the area going into next weekend as
dry weather returns.
0C sunny day here with a westerly breeze and a -10C dew point. Pretty decent winter day (i.e., not too warm) for our standards. Went for a bike ride for a couple hours. Down to -3C as of 23:00.
KPDK made it down to 21 yesterday morning. Coldest it's been since January without a doubt. Coldest Dec morning in 10 years. If you want to know what Atlanta winter is like this was a great example. It was 59 Tuesday and Wednesday, 55 Thursday with a ton of rain, just 32 Friday and then back to 45 yesterday. Might hit 55 today which is a little above average. If we don't hit 60 on Tuesday, we probably will on Thursday.
