It looks like the snow should really ramp up around 9pm. The radar doesn’t show any snow over me right now, but we’ve been getting flurries on and off since about 3pm today.
Curious what the discussion says for your area. No sleep tonight for you. Lol

Raining and 37°F in Atlanta while 62° in Hartford.

Birmingham has a wind chill of 28° with light snow falling.

Here's why... what a dive. It's -10C 5000' over Birmingham. Cold airmass. Below freezing just off the gulf coast

Oh wow. 0 C line touching the eastern seaboard right at Savannah. Love it!

How far south will the snow fly?? Look at it pushing southeast. Crazy. Atlanta reporting snow now. Light of course and probably just sticking to cold surfaces? Higher elevations must be seeing some stickage for sure

Discussion from Atlanta... Polar Vortex talk

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Peachtree City GA
323 PM EST Mon Nov 30 2020

.SHORT TERM /Tonight through Tuesday Night/...

Sharp 500 mb trough is located over the eastern third of the CONUS
with associated surface low in the left exit region quickly moving
to the NE across New England. Embedded within the trough is a
Tropopause Polar Vortex and associated vortmax that is currently
swinging into the area and providing PVA for some lift for light
showers. Cold front associated with the surface low is moving
across the CWA bringing some very cold air behind it. Temperatures
will likely not increase much anywhere the cold front has already
passed, which includes most of north GA. Expect winds to remain
strong and gusty for most of the rest of the day, with only a
little relief tonight.

Overnight, expect temperatures to fall into the 20s and low 30s as
some of the coldest air of the season thus far continues to filter
in from the northwest. We have a northwest flow snow event that is
setting up for our northern mountain counties, as surface moisture
is lifted along the mountains in the persistent northwest winds.
This will likely allow for some very localized accumulations along
the NW facing ridges which could be as high as 1-2" with locally
higher amounts. See the Winter Weather Advisory product for more
information. Some models do indicate the potential for getting some
very light snow to flurries elsewhere across north GA and possibly
even into the metro. However, not expecting anything to accumulate
in these areas at this time.

Tomorrow will be a cool day with highs in the 40s across most of the
CWA, and even lower in the mountains. Upper level trough will begin
to pull away and surface high pressure will dominate. Winds may
still be gusty at times, but skies will begin to clear.

Here it is:

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...ACCUMULATING SNOW AND WINDY CONDITIONS TO IMPACT THE

.A strong storm system will move across the area today, ushering
in much colder air this afternoon through Tuesday. Mountain snows
will occur thanks to the upper level system moving across
especially tonight into Tuesday. West to northwest winds will
also increase leading to blowing snow at times.

725 PM EST Mon Nov 30 2020

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST
TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations
of 2 to 5 inches at the higher elevations. Generally an inch or
two elsewhere. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Mercer, Summers and Eastern Greenbrier Counties.

* WHEN...Through 7 PM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Blustery winds will create blowing snow
Monday night into Tuesday, which will reduce visibility at
times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling.

The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can
be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

It looks like some of the precipitation that was to my west has started to fade away. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get less than an inch. I looked outside just now, and it really hasn’t snowed much at all here in the past hour. Hopefully it ramps up overnight, but I’m not counting on it.

Nice. Thanks. Good luck.

Here is the forecast disco from Blacksburg. . They think 2-5" for above 2500' but models models trended up a little. That deformation zone is hard to forecast

I love Upper Level Lows.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
830 PM EST Mon Nov 30 2020

.SYNOPSIS...
A strong low pressure system over the Ohio Valley will usher in
colder air and mountains snow showers into Tuesday night. Winds
will be gusty tonight into Tuesday especially in the mountains.
High pressure will return for the midweek period, with another
storm system arriving toward the end of the week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY/...
As of 830 PM EST Monday...

Overall forecast remains on track with upslope snows west of the
Blue Ridge continuing. Expect the impactful accumulations of 2
to 5 inches will be at the higher elevations, and the latest
meso guidance has trended amounts upward just a bit, with
locally higher amounts especially around the Grayson
Highlands/Mount Rogers. Winter Weather Advisory is still
expected to cover the situation well for most of the region, but
accumulations in western Greenbrier county are now expected to
be in the 6 to 8 inch range and this supports a Winter Storm
Warning so they have been upgraded.

Winds have decreases this evening but expect a resurgence in the
mountains later tonight as the descending inversion squeezes the
low level flow and mechanical mixing in the terrain brings gusts
back to the surface.

Previous discussion...

An upper level trough across the Tennessee Valleys and southern Ohio
today will become a closed low over the Ohio Valley tonight. The
deformation axis will slowly pivot to the east and be along the
western slopes of the south-central Appalachains by day break
.
Through the day Tuesday, the low and its deformation zone will lift
to the northeast.

Snow accumulations will range from a dusting to 2 inches across
elevations below 2500 ft and 2 to 8 inches above. The higher end of
the range will be towards western Greenbrier, who will be under the
deformation zone the longest across Blacksburg CWA.

Besides the snow, winds will be an issue tonight and tomorrow. The
combination of strong cold air advection and pressure rises behind
the front could bring gusts up to 40 mph this afternoon and evening.
As the low pulls to the northeast tomorrow, better pressure rises
and a 45 kt cross-barrier jet may bring stronger gusts to counties
adjacent to the Blue Ridge
BTW... 60s here at 9pm. Lol

It is currently almost 10 degrees warmer in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia than it is in Panama City, Florida.

Wow, it's 35F/2C here in Chemnitz, Germany, which is a degree or two warmer than where I used to live in Auburn, Alabama! I'm sure Auburn will warm up in the mid-afternoon hours (32 north latitude), whereas Chemnitz will hover just above freezing most of the day due to the low sun angle this time of year (50.7 north latitude).
