-18C airmass over this area? Right from the arctic.

Watch the purples. A piece breaks off from the arctic and heads right into the Midwest and Northeast.

Watch the storm form at the base in the Gulf and move north on the right side of the trough all the way to Greenland. Hoping that storm is off the coast instead of tracking inland for Christmas! Position of trough is gonna matter

^TWC has a low of -6c here for the 26th. Hopefully trends colder if we can get that nice looking airmass to dig a bit deeper or more eastward. I would love to see -10c before the new year.

Weather apps going crazy on the forecast. Really should just wait til next week to see what's gonna come out of it. At one point I saw 1-3 inches of snow for Christmas Eve into Christmas... Forecast high for Christmas now just 38. Lows deep into the 20s.

Current temps.

Northeast. Snowpack is incredible. Single digits down to CT 30 minutes near me. (2F!) They are slightly higher elevation than me. I'm at 14° 10 minutes from the beach.

Single digits down to Eastern PA just north of Philly, and NWNJ

Southeast

My forecast also shows 1-3 inches for the night of Christmas Eve, and a high of 28, low of 19 for Christmas Day.

I would love to have another white Christmas. The last one we had was 2017.

Christmas morning temps. Torch here with a big rain storm and wind. Guess no official white Christmas. Still got 4+" on ground today.

Looks good here. Of the past five Christmases, only 2017 had decent temps.

Ah, the 0 C line touching the east coast first with Georgia. Only possible when the troughs go negative, just like the first week of the month.

GFS has the 528 mb line touching the SC coast on Christmas day.

Most of the snow is going to melt Thursday, with temps near 60 and rain. Until then it should stay somewhat intact.
