More perspective. I'm keeping on top of this because I have an expat employee looking for his window to travel to Japan. They declared, and are extending, a state of emergency till March 7. Their total case load (400,000) and death tally (5,800) would be like 2 recent days in the US.

Should sign up anyway. The pharmacist isn't going to give a sheet.

Will it in fact be an honor system? I wasn't sure since SO & I have been receiving updates from the various health providers we see (e.g. Atrius Health, Partners, etc.) re: vaccinations. I assume that somehow the eligibility is tied to the medical history, but could be mistaken.

Our scenario is really weird, we are isolated in some areas, but then not in others. We aren't booking fancy trips or anything like that, but we are isolating ourselves, and yet trying to get out of the house in isolation if that makes any sense.

For example, last weekend we went Tubing at Nashoba valley. Was pretty easy to distance there and it was nice to get out and have fun as a family. But then, on the flipside we had my son's 8th bday and did it outside even though it was 17 degrees out. We just didn't want to have a house full of older individuals, even though a good portion of my family has been vaccinated.

So we are isolating ourselves from others, but still trying to find things to do safely in order to not be locked up 24-7. SOme things we are confortable with, others are not. Bit Bar in salem will rent the entire arcade out in blocks to you for a pretty decent fee. We were thinking of something like that. I'm a lot more comfortable with that idea, vs dinner out. In fact, since last March, the wife and I have been out to dinner only twice, and both times were outside. There's a good portion of my family I haven't seen in a year, and I haven't even socialized with my closest buddies since last winter.

We aren't perfect, but trying to balance safety with actually being happy.

I'm feeling positive looking forward. We've made our summer vacation plans, and we've decided to have a big late summer kids bday party for all the kids in our family forced to deal with lackluster bdays the last year. Hopefully things are tuning around by late summer and we can follow through with those plans.

From my understanding, there are kind of subphases (they're calling them "groups") within the major phases. Looks to me like it's 4 groups within Phase 2. it's 75+ right now, and then will come 65+ with 2 or more comorbidities, then certain classes of workers, and the last group for Phase 2 will be those with 1 comorbidity.

Note the operative phrase "Listed in order of priority" at the beginning of the Phases 2 listing. Phase 2 is currently scheduled to run for 2 months.

Talk about blinking your freakin' eyes, and watching a year disappear. My condolences to all those affected.

My husband’s doctor’s office called this morning to set up an appointment for him, 75+. We are planning that I will go with him and if they can, as in doses going unused, they will get the vaccine into my arm as well. The office told him they are quite well stocked. We’ll see how that goes.
