That could be a long time coming. Realistically, I think we need to adjust our expectations.

Agreed. I have no crystal ball, but I don't see the day yet where we eliminate it, and that day may never come. If we can reduce the mortality and morbidity further though, and reduce the burden on our hospitals - the collateral damage, then it can still be a big advance over where we are today. We've made a lot of important advances since March 2020 when this first blew up: the scientific understanding, the vaccines, the treatment knowledge and the treatment agents, and this has saved many lives. But obviously there is still a long way to go before this is the flu-level concern that it is often claimed to be.

Harvard taking the "let it rip attitude": "Students whose direct roommate tests positive may apply for alternative housing if they are asymptomatic and have tested negative, with priority given to those at increased risk for COVID-19 complications and those in a suite where all other students have tested positive, per the DSO email." https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2...olicy-changes/
Oh, and Harvard affiliates are now required to do their own contact tracing.

I guess they're realizing this is basically just a cold

As I have posted previously, my brother, who almost died with Covid in April/May, 2020, is disabled with Long Covid. He was just telling me about one of the effects the other day.

Apparently, when it's cold, his body from his chest down to his feet goes completely numb. He's not cold, he's wrapped up and has adequate heat and is warm enough, he's just numb and no amount of blankets or heaters can relieve the numbness. He lives in NY State and is miserable with this and hopes to someday be able to move someplace that doesn't get too cold.

He meets monthly with a covid dr, as well as other specialists, but these long hauler issues are still problems for which there is no treatment.

It's so weird!

Sorry to hear this, hope he maintains hope and stays in the fight.

Thanks. We don't talk much about some of the lasting effects of covid, but I think it is important for people to be aware of what some people are experiencing.

https://www.covidtests.gov/

I just ordered 4 of the tests. You can get 4 per address. Apparently, the site is open a day early (supposed to be tomorrow) so do it now if you can.
