Most times a La Nina means warm for FL and very dry. So far this winter has been very dry, but below normal temps. Hi was 67f around midnite and been around 61f all day and 0% sunshine. Some lite rain in south FL today.

I just finished looking at the 18Z GFS in great detail. "Seasonal" cold for the eastern US, not very arctic at all, models have moderated the colder air that was supposed to materialize quite a bit over the past few days unfortunately. There could be some snow potential for next week, but overall the winter continues to be a severe disappointment just like last year.

Well, most of the snow and ice melted off today, thank goodness, and the rest of this week is looking FABULOUS, DAHLINK! (NE Texas)

Tomorrow looks torch for the Central US

Models especially the Euro are warming the US up in the medium and even longer range showing only transitional cold.

But there is hope....

I've been reading up on older (pre January) forecasts for Texas, and it's interesting to me that the forecasts say, without exception, that this January will be milder and warmer than usual. We just had about 4 inches of snow dumped on much of Texas, with highs in the 30s for several days on end. Highs for the next ten days here in NE Texas are forecast to be in the 50s with lows in the 30s and 40s. I dunno, call me crazy but those temps seem normal to me. The snow was NOT normal but hey, it happened and it happened in a big way for this area.
