Upgraded to Warnings in Texas. Hope you see some snow!

I'm now under a winter weather advisory! Models have improved for me. NWS mentioning a trace to up to around 2 inches for the Alexandria area.

Surprising that it’s so warm in Malta considering Spain just had a huge amount of snow and cold. Real Madrid got stuck in hotel: https://espndeportes.espn.com/futbol...-nieve-aumenta
Wow impressive, was it on the other side of the cold front affecting Spain?
Basically. Malta would have been in the warm air and the low pressure system would move along the polar or arctic front, with Madrid to the north, Malta & Barcelona to the south. That's the way snowstorms work.

I thought this would be especially rare in a La Niña. In an El Niño even northern Mexico often gets snow.

South Texas got snow December 2017; during weak La Nina. Light accumulation down to Brownsville! https://www.weather.gov/bro/2017even...20Brownsville.

I had snow accumulation twice that winter.

Some mid January statistics for Chicago

Strat warming/Polar Vortex splitting is almost perfect timing for when we usually see the coldest air of the season

Meanwhile here in the Phoenix area we will be approaching 80 degrees on Friday
