2004 only hit 1F (not 0F) at KNYC.

60 degrees and sunny in Austin today, I'm loving it! I had to trim back all the tropical foilage that died and now since the weather won't be below freezing for the next 2 weeks I went ahead and brought my potted plants outside. They are sprouting spring growth from being inside the heat.

This weekend in the low to mid 60's so I'll definitely be spending some time grilling and drinking a beer on the deck, in between watching football playoff games.

It continues here in eastern NC. After a low of 9F, we are once again expecting the low to drop to around 10F. This morning was the lowest temp I have recorded here since I moved here in 1996.

4 maps...

This afternoons temps at 5000'. Impressive cold air mass! Gives me the chills looking at this because usually I dont see as much blues (-30C) that far south! This core is deep!! The White alone is Arctic and well below normal.

Zoomed in.

850mb departures

Temp departures last 7 days. Wow!

I dont think I ever seen a legend like that!! widespread -20° departures???

Another freeze in the forecast tonight. Turning a bit warmer until the end of next week, when it looks like colder temps may return.

Building has grid electricity, no generator. not sure where the heating is from:

https://www.conwaydailysun.com/berli...2f675c561.html

building heat can't keep up, indoor temperature dropped to 51°F. Speaking of Mt. Washington, good example of coldest at the surface and higher up not matching. midlevel temperatures are coldest tomorrow morning. Surface temperatures will be coldest Sunday morning as shown by this Mt. Washington are example. Mt. Washington will be coldest tomorrow morning

strong wind bringing in the coldest arctic air. But the winds will prevent radiation cooling. By Sunday morning, the winds have mostly died down and there's been time for the coldest midlevel air to mix in. Coldest temperatures at this frost hollow valley location is Sunday morning
