Face mask, but not using it continuously (it fogs up my glasses since my breath can't escape).

Anyways, it's -10F here in Lake Placid up from a morning low of -14, loving every second. Spent the morning walking around town, now gonna rent some snow shoes and go out on the lake, then later planning on ice skating.
Don't you have to work?

Crazy out there. Blowing snow and biting winds. Was doing some clean up and after an hour it was going through my 3 layers and gloves. No jacket. Just Tshirt-Fleece-Hooded Sweatshirt.

1:30pm. Bright blue sunny skies and only 11°F ???? HOLY CRAP.

3 Maps..

Beautiful Street Clouds over the Atlantic. You know its cold when you see that. -21C at 5000' off the coast!

Add these wind gusts...

You get this! Feels like below zero during the day.

Interesting, Nova Scotia is warmer than North Carolina. That part of Canada sticks out into the Gulf Stream and is highly moderated. 2C in Sydney, Nova Scotia which is a higher latitude than Montreal, at -17C.

Only 13°F here (which is insane), but it feels so artificial, the sun here is strong enough to take all of the sting out of it, I’m not even wearing a real winter coat, and I’m a coconut palm in terms of cold tolerance.

wore a hat for the first time this winter. Face felt cold, rest felt ok. Sun helped a lot, as Infamous said.

Not really about the Gulf Stream today. That intense big storm past by west of them overnight sending warm southerly air into them. Give them a chance, they'll cool down more. Just the timing of the pattern in place. Cool observation though.

Didn't mean to leave out Florida but the most negative departures are NC to Maine today

Florida is 12-16 below normal right now. Afternoon temps in the 40s and 50s. 60s in the south

The sun helps out, but the wind makes it feel quite chilly. My ears are the part of me that always feels the coldest so a hat is necessary lol
