Wonder what the coldest 850 mb temperatures over new England during the arctic blast will be. And when. Guessing next Saturday. Lets watch Mt. Washington too
GFS has -26C over Hartford Saturday morning. -30C over Burlington Vermont. Haven't checkefd Euro, might be tad colder. (Rain around the 9th maybe)

I have lived in New Hampshire for close to 16 years now and I don't EVER remember a DAYTIME HIGH being in the negative numbers. This is scary-cold.
Every time I go outside I am EXTRA careful to watch where my cats are before I open the door.
Impressive on many levels. I think this may blow away February 2015 memory. The consistency is what's so impressive. No usual break. My little 2" of snow hasn't even disappeared from days ago WITH FULL SUN!. lol

The flip gotta happen eventually.. Or might just be a quick flip. It's past 7 days from now so nobody is confident on anything yet.

It's possible but unlikely if the stations nearby were much warmer.
Not sure, wish it was interactive. Errors are always possible. I think it's Thief River Falls, MN. Maybe not. Looks like it should be -19F as the max if that is the station. Or Crookston, MN? Maybe the station is frozen. That's possible too and not reading right.
silly cold. what an extreme tongue shape, thinks that's common with the most extreme cold outbreaks, when it's that narrow often short-lived. -28°C 850 hPa temperatures. Also not much of a ridge along the west coast, center of warmth has moved eastward over the Mountain West.
The cold really doesn't bother me I've found out this weekend. I was one of the only people skiing at Stowe all day haha, made it from 10-4. Bit cold, but hitting up the warming huts was key. Tkyn, I hit 3/4 of the front 4 today
Nice job!!!! I give credit to anyone who was skiing this weekend lol!!!

Keep dreaming. A pattern flip would mean rain into LA which would badly be needed...
