2pmEST temps. Looks like the Gulf is gurgling reading to throw some precip into the cold air. Arctic front cleared the coast

I see some 20s and 30s with Full sun down there today. Wonder what the Gulf water temp is like.

Cambium, we're actually getting a freezing light drizzle in Austin today. The Gulf Coast of Texas hasn't seen the sun the whole time during this cold wave which has ensured very cold daytime temps but nighttime temps are about the same. Today for instance was low of 25 and high of 28. It's actually supposed to get warmer later tonight to about 29 or 30.

Tomorrow the rebound occurs. Mid 50's and sun expected in Austin! Mid 60's on tap by Sunday as the return flow off the Gulf comes back strong! Arctic weather conquered! The 40's will return to the SE Gulf Coast tomorrow and 60's by Sunday as well. They are usually a day or two behind us in weather and their rebounds aren't as strong as they can't get the SW desert flow we can get where bone dry weather means the atmosphere can heat up in the day.

Man I hope we get some warmer temps within the next week here in Georgia! It looks like into the first part of next week could be high in the 50s!

Cambium,

You wanted to know what it looks like offshore from Louisiana where that precip pocket is?

Snow spotted off Louisiana's coast Tuesday afternoon: See video | NOLA.com

As you can see it's very cloudy/stormy out there. The Gulf of Mexico is not going down without a fight!

SST as of Dec 31:

Upper 50's along LA/TX and northern FL coast but mid 70's in mid Gulf.

SST as of Jan 2: (greatly reduced in southern part of Gulf but not northern as the flow is clockwise, still upper 50's):
