Just finished the driveway. Was 3 degrees F when I started at 8am, then warmed up to 8 F after 90 mins or so when I decided to take a breakfast break. Was 11 F when I decided to start again and warmed up to 14 F by the time I finished. Really enjoyed it; might as well have been part of my vacation.

Dew points have been completely ridiculous. Minus teens F, lowest I've experienced on LI since 2015! Indoor humidity is 13% according to my device.

went for a walk at 8 am to get coffee, nearest unofficial station was reading -11°F, phone claimed it was -9°F. And it was not as brutal as I thought. Wore normal pants but long underwear underneath, thick wool socks but sneakers. Sweater, fleece, medium-weight down coat. No scarf but a hat. Light gloves, then mittens over it. Felt a "whoa, this is cold" sensation but not horribly uncomfortable. Yesterday with the wind and higher temperatures felt worse. The winds depends on the direction, so 25% of the time it felt more comfortable but the rest of the time it was uncomfortable last night, I was worse dressed though. This morning, my face felt cold but didn't feel a stinging sensation, woulda liked a scarf if I was out for longer; definitely manageable for much longer and I enjoyed my walk. Moving created enough body heat that my clothes helped kept enough the warmth in. But I could feel "this is air is crazy cold" wherever it seeped over, different feeling than yesterday with the same windchill but warmer temperatures.

Official station read -18°F at the time; I don't think that was correct for here; it didn't feel cold enough.

so here’s the lows for the valley. Chicopee [Westover Airforce Base] went down -20°F. All the rest of the station are not official ASOS stations, they’re amateur APRSWXNET stations that fit certain NWS standard so they use them a bit. I’ve noticed big variations early morning from this website; I think the unofficial stations are showing some patterns rather than random errors. Maybe the area just to the south of the Holyoke Range is a good frost hollow / has cold air damming. Seems like most of the valley reached around there ±2°F. Link to maps:

regional temperatures in °C in the spoiler

Spoiler

temperatures and dewpoints at 9:51 am

most places struggling to reach above 0°F even mid-morning
