We once again just missed out on everything in Indianapolis. Yesterday morning woke up to about an inch of snow. Much of it melted during the day. Early this morning we had another quick burst that left less than inch here on the north side. Roads were mostly just wet at worst as of 7:30 this morning. These little snows are just a nuisance but I don't see anything major on the horizon either. Best chance in the next week is maybe Saturday night after rain changes over to snow but at this point it's once again looking like a half inch at best. Next Tuesday may start out as snow but with a forecast high currently in the mid-40s, it won't stay snow for very long. Our biggest storm all winter I think has been just 2 inches at one time. We've had the cold but not the snow fun to go with it!

cloudy but a patch of cloudless sky to the east, nice light on the Connecticut River this morning, didn't catch a good photo. Snowstorm coming up the coast from the southwest. Mt. Washington had a sliver of sun this morning

seems to have clouded everywhere in the region now

Is that a Tornado Warning in Louisiana overnight?

A still... watch that crucial freezing line at 5000'

A loop... Here's a cool look at the Temps at 5000' (850mb) and what the stations are reporting last 4 hours. (no radar)

1. Look at the freezing line moving across Kentucky. It's getting colder at 5000' so I will assume the temps at the surface will remain the same and start dropping maybe this afternoon?

2. Without this level at or below freezing you can't get snow. Pittsburgh is right on the freezing line so precip is changing back and forth or mostly ice.

3. High Ratio snows under the pinks.

4. Note the freezing line getting mighty close to NYC and Long Island

5. Warm air surging north from the south but will stay cold for interior because of track.

I changed. 1/2" snow total melted to 0.05" liquid..

Now getting sleet/ice. Getting warmer aloft while surface is still 20s.

The closer that freezing line at 5000' gets the closer the change is. New update should show it more north than this since I have changed over.

South winds at that level so it will be pushing north but the surface will take time to warm up.

Virginia Beach in the 60s right now at 11am. Wow.

Current position of the storm is at the PA/WV border

SPC Hourly Mesoscale Analysis

We changed over to freezing rain around 730 here. Has been steady FR since, temp hasn't gone above 30, and it's been "raining". Our snow level has dropped considerably and is estimate 0.10" ice on the trees

Looks like a little back piece is getting you. Air throughout the column cooled down enough..

At least you didn't get rain. I got sleet and freezing rain battling it out.

12pm Map.. Thunderstorms down south with warnings.
