The Cold front now pushed Off Shore.
Lake Ontario effect snow squall just missed me
Lake Erie effect snows down to Philly and NJ coast
Instability mountain snows over Virginias
NW flow is back but will leave tomorrow I believe
Trough in place. The red area is the area with the strongest Jet winds which provides instability hence the snows over Virginias
Currently here in Aurora, ME, 21F Degrees, Dew Point 16F Degrees, Winds WNW 15mph, Predicted high, 28F Degrees, Predicted Low -1F Degrees, Snowing - sometimes heavily Accumulated snow 4", Beginning to see high drifts.
Husband, Jon is continuing to work 50hrs at bakery and was expected to arrive early this morning, however, about a half an hour into his commute, I received a call from Jon at home, indicating that Route 9, heading East from the Amherst area was a sheet of ice...he had managed (at 10mph), to slipped off the road and his controlled slide, landed him on the side of the road. Jon managed to get turned around and followed Maine-Dot truck (with a group of other travellers). The group (containing some truck drivers), pulled off the side of the road and waited for some traction....Jon returned home thankfully, safe!
Blown forecast here. See the lake effect bands hitting me? I got nearly 2", and we were supposed to see any!
Cold and brisk this morning, 13° and moderate lake effect snow at 7 am.
I was watching those bands.. What a season for you wow.

Check out some CoCoRaHS reports.. How far is Becket from you? They got 4.6" of new snow on ground. Snow depth at time of report was 5.5". Westhampton got 3.0". Looks like a lot of areas missed out.
I don't know how Southern Canada does it. These are wind chills. Lots of days below -10F it seems without any real breaks. On the same thought I have no idea how Southern Florida does it.
Coming up..... So we had a storm on Jan 30th... one on Feb 1st... GFS showing another 4 next 10 days. 6 storms in 2 weeks!
And yet, nothing BIG. No blizzards or big note worthy snowstorms. Except New England should be interesting to watch.
Storm #1...
Tomorrow Feb 4, 2018. Another front comes in. Storm from Ohio Valley and Storm from Mid Atlantic. Virginia Mountains, PA, and interior Northeast will get snow. Some spots over 6" but mostly under
Storm #2
Wednesday February 7th. Another front. Another storm. More rain here but more snow with this storm for interior. 6" + swath from Indiana, Ohio, across PA and into interior Northeast.
Storm #3
Sunday February 11th. Another front, another storm developing but it has it south more but still rain for the coasts. If the Low drops south more then it would snow at the coasts.
Storm #4
Monday Feb 12th. This one stays off the Mid Atlantic coast. Not much precip anywhere except in southeast. Maybe snow for mountains.
The pattern is different from last month because the Jet stream isn't digging south enough for storms to come up the coast... they are staying on land. Not good for snows here but interior it is.
