If the storm track was any further north we'd get a part ice storm, part snowstorm. Thankful we're not getting; nearly slipped on the black ice we have the rain on snow we've had.

I see why I got sleet and ice.. It's only above freezing between 4100' and 5600' at the moment.. So the snow falling through that level is melting but because its below freezing under 4000' all the way to surface there's enough time for sleet to form. But at times there must be a warmer surge below 4000' to make it freezing rain only.

Funny how just a 1500' thick layer above freezing ruins things.

RAP sounding for the coast.

Check out where the freezing line at 5000' is now. At the MA/CT border.

Precip falling harder here but temp still 31° so ice is accumulating more.. Expecting rain any moment. Raining on Long Island

Sever Weather Alert still in effect until 1:00am Thursday...5-8" of snow & ice accumulations of a light glaze expected...
Who knows what tomorrow will bring - drove home East on Route 9..No State Snow plow (and am thankful it is much easier) in a few inches of show (still slippery)! Thankful the storm was delayed and less than anticipated during evening commute!

Yep, I think there were 3 tornado warnings in central LA early this morning, one not far to my north. It was kind of unexpected, as the only threat forecast had been hail. No damage reports in central LA that I'm aware of.

It got up to 69F overnight before the front, but for much of the day it's been in the low 40's with some periods of rain.

warmed up to the 50s in southeast Massachusetts. won't last long

https://twitter.com/ericfisher/statu...90790147825664

as for here…

ugh. can't get a decent snowstorm this year. turned to sleet at 3, rain around 4:30 or 5. pretty snow and the hassle of messy roads got ruined by an ice storm.

COLD COLD COLD a few of inches of snow… RAIN COLD

ok, a few days of mild, but WASTE OF WINTER. just go to 50 and melt everything.
