there are patches here, and some bike paths and fields have packed snow and ice but it's definitely more bare than snow. One more day and a bit overnight should clear the old, ugly rotten stuff
Some pretty heavy rainfall totals in areas today. My total was 2.06".
Quote:
Quite a bit of rain fell during the late night and Saturday
morning, mainly in two regions.
The first was across lower Southeast Texas and lower Southwest
Louisiana, roughly from Lake Charles to Cameron through Orange to
the mid county and coastal areas of Jefferson County Texas. Radar
estimates and ground truth gauge data shows wide spread 4 to 8
inches, with isolated to around 10 inches. The other was in lower
Acadiana north of the Vermilion Bay from eastern Vermilion Parish
through northern Iberia parish into Upper St. Martin Parish, with
widespread 3 to 7 inches.
Here is some rainfall data of note through 3 pm local:
A DD6 alert gauge along the Taylors Bayou east of Hamshire
reported 7.95 inches of rain. The ASOS at KBPT has recorded 6.67
inches of rain, which is not only the daily record rainfall for
the date (Jan 27 breaking the previous of 3.16 in 1913) but also
the all time month of January daily record (breaking 4.10 inches
on Jan 7, 1961.) The AWOS KORG, Orange Texas has recorded 5.21
inches.
For Southwest Louisiana...The CPPJ alert gauge at Vinton has
recorded 5.08 inches. The ASOS at KLCH has recorded 4.37 inches,
which breaks the daily (Jan 27) rainfall record. The previous
record was 3.00 in 1916.
For South Central Louisiana...The ASOS at KARA New Iberia, has
recorded 4.94 inches of rain. This not only breaks the daily
record rainfall for the date (Jan 27 the previous record of 1.86
in 1992) but also the all time month of January daily record
(breaking 4.04 inches on Jan 4, 2007.)
Very cool looks! I keep forgetting to bookmark the archive link so thanks for posting.
Btw.. your "2014" was for Feb 1st. Look at mid month Feb 2014. Pacific flow to East coast. Took few days after that to warm up and was short lived though
This Jan has been the first month in years we have been below normal. So far i have loved this winter with the changes and dips. Got down to 28 one morning. so that was the first below 32 since 2011. Killed many of my plants. I just hope the upper levels don't go flat on me and i keep getting the dips and changes every few days. Looks like rain later today and maybe could get above normal rain for the month.
Keep this pattern going as i love it.
