Incredible snow rates going on. Another 1.9" past hour. 4.5" and counting still.


Doing a little shoveling. This stuff is so heavy. No wind at all but it's cascading off the trees from the weight.

10pm. Another inch an hour.
1.0" new snow melted to 0.11" liquid.

5.5" total 0.50" qpf. Still coming down. Temp steady at 33°. No wind at all.




Lots of weight on there.

Nice! That's a lot of wet snow, I should go outside before going to be bed and check what it's like. I think midnight will be the strongest.

crazy snow rates. 1-2" per hour for 4 hrs now.


11pm. 1.1" new snow past 1 hr again melted to 0.11" qpf.


6.6" total. 0.61"qpf

Nunavut has had some extremely cold weather lately.

Kugaaruk hit -51.8C/-61F yesterday. That's an record low for them, the previous record was -51.5C in 1989.
Daily data from Ogimet. Another site

Several places are showing wind chills below -60C/-76F today. The lowest today was -68C/-90F in Baker Lake...the temperature was -45.3C/-50F and the wind speed 39kph/24mph. Their record low wind chill is -71.5C/-97F so it's extremely cold even for them. Daily Data for Baker Lake.

Current conditions in Nunavut, updated every hour. The warmest spot right now is Alert, oddly enough. Current temperature/wind/wind chills:

Pink icons indicates Heavy Snow reports. 5-7" in southern NY and SW CT..


I don't see any reports coming from Long Island. Might not be sticking much?
