Atlantic City has dropped to -6F, which will set a record for coldest so late in winter & latest subzero on record (141 yrs of data).
Evidence why its (KACY) temperature and precipitation records should not be official for Atlantic City and those of the downtown station, which has operated largely continuously in one or more locations since the 1870s, put in its place. I am confident that KACY in the March 1872/1873 cold spells would have went subzero.

Very weird to see that temps are going to continue to climb, even after the sun goes down. We'll be above freezing for a whole 24 hours. Whoopee!

I kinda hit the wall this morning as far as keeping the fireplace and the kerosene heaters going and just opted to run the main source - heat pump for the day. It looks like things will begin to improve come March. I sure hope that the long range numbers that I'm seeing from Accuweather are close to what will come.

Meanwhile, this is happening out on the West Coast.

Here is an interesting read from a blog on the pattern there:

Bro this weather is one of the biggest reasons as to why we left Russia. The other two reasons were corruption and antisemitism. So yeah, cold weather for me is as bad as corruption and antisemitism. Well not really, but close!

Don't know yet whether the lows on Monday and Tuesday Morning will be the coldest of the season but I do know that everyone is forecast record lows for those two days in Indianapolis; the record low for Monday Morning is -1 Degrees F set in 1889, and the record low is -2 Degrees F set in 1900 on Tuesday Morning; Forecast Lows as of now range from -5 F to -9 F depending on which local forecast source i look at in Indianapolis; The National Weather Service is Forecasting Lows of -5 and -6 Degrees Fahrenheit for those two mornings.

We dropped to 16 this morning, another record low but we soared to 57 today. That was 56 hours below freezing which is amazing for us.

Yeah, this one looks to be one for the record books. 24 F / -4 C is currently our monthly average temperature. So far that's colder than December 1989, January 1985, January 1994, January 2004, January 2014... Average high for the month so far is 34 F (1 C) and average low is 14 F (-10 C).
