MSP Polar Bear Plunge - January 30, 2010

Is anyone here thinking of doing the Polar Bear Plunge (Jan 30 at Sandy Point State Park, see details above.)

If you're going, are you going to actually jump in the bay or just attend the festival?

By the way, they're holding the costume contest before the Plunge so participants can change out of costumes before plunging into the Bay. Apparently someone in a spongebob costume learned the hard way that costumes are a little too bulky for a dip in chilly water. Brrrrrrr!

I wish that a friend of mine was still around, because I know that he could've done this. He actually swam in Helsinki Harbor during the Winter, and during the Cold War (He out paced a Soviet Patrol Boat lol). He and his buddies all did a nice "little" swim down at VA Beach in the middle of Winter as well. Yep, those SEALs sure are amazing.

Meh. I'd love to do it, but I'm self-conscious about how pasty I am with my shirt off.

Go for it--you're allowed to wear shirts. Just no wet suits allowed, that's all. And no spongebob costumes!

Hahaha I just "plunged" from my house down our long driveway to get the mail. Brrrr!!!! Looks like I have no inner polar bearing longing for a swim.

LOL, it's going to be co-o-o-ld tomorrow. I think anyone who goes outside qualifies as participating in the Polar Bear plunge this year!
