Daily records don't impress me as much as monthly records, but more impressive is the number of days for a certain value.; with that said...

Bridgeport,CT normal amount of days in the single digits or colder in "January" is 3. They have 10 this month alone. WTF?

Its a record for February with 10 days below 10°F & 3 away from all time Jan 1982 with 12.

Definitely feels unique around here. I've always said getting into the single digits is special and you have to get lucky around here....that's in mid winter... NOT February!! Feels weird!

9 days left in February, BDR having an 8th coldest winter with average of 29.0° & having the coldest month All Time with average of 20.2°

Central Park NYC broke the record of 7 degrees this morning @6 degrees.
in my area: wind chills of 22 below zero.
more snow expected Sat night, just a few inches.
We've had snow cover since early in Feb.
Hard to complain, when I think of Boston, but....I will be really happy to see the brown earth again.

Current 850mb Temps. It was -26.9°C over Washington DC at 12z. That is a record for February. Impressive Airmass!

The -26.9C this morning matches the Top 5 for "January".

All time coldest 850mb temp over D.C is -29.9°C on Jan 17, 1982.

Here's the D.C 850mb OBS. Previous record in Feb was -25.3C in Feb 17, 1958

Only went down to 0°F. Strong wind prevented radiational cooling?
