What does "Further consideration was objected to" mean?
I assume the entry to which you are referring on the link above is: "H. R. 5618 (Continue Federal Unemployment Insurance Programs). The second reading of the bill was agreed to. Further consideration was objected to. The bill was placed on the Senate Calendar."
It means that someone wanted the bill more closely reviewed before a second reading was agreed to; that request was objected to. Bills must have three official readings and be vetted by a Senate Committee to be introduced on the Senate floor for debate.
If I read this right the bad news is they are going to wait a couple of days even further than I thought (if Manchin names someone Friday, why can't they do it Monday? Or better yet, after all that "vacation" have them come in on the weekend). But it also sounds like he's going to focus on 5618 and get it passed and not tie is in the 4213 (I don't know if I have that number right) and risk losing the "Maine twins" vote and completely mess this up.
As attributed in that article, the quote you cited is from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who last month on the Senate floor said:
“The only reason the unemployment extension hasn’t passed is because Democrats simply refuse to pass a bill that doesn’t add to the debt. That’s it. That’s the only difference between what they’ve offered and what we’ve offered.”

What I meant was, it sounds something like the Republicans would say in that they (Republicans) simply refuse to pass a bill that doesn't add to the debt, not the Democrats.

Yeah so far here we have two different dates, one story says Tuesday, another story says Monday. I have no idea which one is accurate.

This I haven't heard about yet, I thought the scary speculation yesterday was that he was going to add to 4213 to sabotage it and hurt the republicans (by not having UE passed).
I'll revisit the thread to see what you're talking about with 5618, that is the most logical way to move forward (rimshot).
Regardless...for most of us, we probably won't actually be getting paid until the last week of July since it might take awhile for things to get up and running. Perhaps later than that even.
I dont know which one is correct either Monday sounds more possible.
