Did we elect you our spokesperson recently?

And again I ask, doesn't your profile say you're part Scots-Irish? I've seen my share of Irish & Scottish-Americans wearing kilts, so my examples DO represent your culture.
We belong to different cultures. We possess differing cultural norms. The peoples of the appalachian/ozark culture are of several origins; german, english, native american, scotts irish, even some italians came here. The wearing of kilts was never a normal garb. Nor was dressing little boys like little girls.

I'm not all that familiar with Scottish or Irish culture, so thanks for the interesting link. But I'm not really advocating anything, I'm only saying that should be a free & individual choice. You say to "do whatever you want, just leave my people alone" - and this is all that's being requested in return. If a boy (or man) wants to wear a dress, why can't everyone refrain from giving him a hard time about it? I understand children will tease, but at least the adults can maintain some level of maturity. Is that so much to ask?

That's fine... I never asked YOU to change your culture or societal norms, did I? And I may have missed it, but is this boy from the Ozarks?

Edit: Nope, he's from New England.

Cross-dressing is only for adults - not young children.

anyone who thinks young boys ought to wear a skirt to school has some serious issues.

it is utterly inappropriate.

A society where gender roles are slowly becoming extinct.

AKA:

A better society.

Not so sure about that, because gender roles usually reflect nature's design for human behaviour.

Society sets gender roles.

Think of caveman and cavewoman on an island though.

there will still be gender roles here, due to different physical and mental attributes.

Society reflects these.
