Yeah, they're called uniforms.

I ******* hate shaving!

For years, when I worked in the restaurant industry, I had to shave.

A clean shaven face was part of my male uniform.

I also had to keep my hair cut much shorter than my female co-workers.

Short hair was also part of my male uniform.

Females could grow their hair as long as they liked.

It never occurred to me to **** and moan about it.

Having boys wear pants is puritanical repression? Really?

Telling people what they can and can't cover their body in is certainly repression

I think that could look nice on the right man, if he had a nice set of legs.
Ya' know we really do belong to different cultures.

Big whoop, who cares. If the kid gets picked on he will stop, if he doesn't then obviously society is evolving.

Well what point is being made by doing so? 'Creative' expression, defiance? Or why stop there? How about nude? Sure we are all individuals. But we also all need principles, standards, even boundaries that consider the feelings of others, since we are not alone on this planet.

It's not about boys wearing dresses specifically, it's about feeling confined by gender lines and stereotypes... the most obvious example being WOMEN in dresses/skirts, which at one time was considered the only "normal" way of dressing. Nowadays people don't bat an eyelash at women in pants, so why can't men enjoy the same freedom? I'm not saying all men need to start wearing dresses, just that there's no reason to harass those who do.

Apparently. But I'm used to diversity, so I have no problem living side-by-side with "your people" - whatever they may be. At the same time, I won't enforce MY cultural norms on everyone else, or ostracize people who disagree. What about you?

You're absolutely right, but it will be a very hard sell.

Sure.

I happen to think that my feelings about what I should wear trump your feelings about what I should wear.
