You keep saying this. No one lets people die from the flu. The annual flu vaccine is all you need to know to dispel that nonsense. You get the vaccine as much for others as for yourself. Like every other vaccine. There is no vaccine for COVID-19. Social distancing and sheltering at home are all we can do right now.

Incredible propaganda given their fearless leader was calling it a hoax trying to keep equity markets from imploding ... such things hurt re-election bids, so it’s understandable ... if you lack ethics.
The deflection over the last 3+ years has been unbelievable but that one is creme de la creme. Two months of Baghdad Bob. I think the United States is likely to be the last first world country to get a handle on the problem since there is no coherent public health policy. You won't be able to fly to Europe or Asia from the United States without a 14 day quarantine for a very long time.

The reality is the world needs to get back to work or we have Beyond Thunderdome. The high risk people who can't telecommute or maintain separation are temporarily disabled until there is an effective treatment, a vaccine, or the disease somehow vanishes off the RADAR screen. I have zero confidence that a McConnell US Senate and Trump presidency would do the right thing for that class of people. If you look at household net worth by age bracket, an astounding fraction of age 50+ people are going to have a huge problem where it's too risky to work but abject poverty if they don't work. Until the election, I figure we have Hunger Games "May the odds be ever in your favor" policy.

If you land on a ventilator, your odds are really low. The most optimistic data I've seen is from the UK were 2/3 of people on ventilators die. The best way to save people is to prevent the higher risk people from getting pneumonia in the first place. There is no medical magic wand at the moment. Hopefully, there will be but as of April 2, 2020, anyone with the long list of chronic health problems where pneumonia kills them and anyone age 60+ where their immune system is more likely to destroy their lungs needs to be in full blown disease avoidance mode. That's about 20% of the country.

Glad to know marijuana is not addictive.
People who smoke it should not mind the POT shops are not being allowed in Massachusetts to open for a couple of weeks. Perhaps longer.

I think it might just come back to this. They'll test everybody and if you're at risk you either have to have a vaccine or you telecommute.

if you're at risk and want to telecommute that's fine but you're not actually going into work unless you have the vaccine and you're safe as in you're not going to spread it to other people or die on the job.

If people refuse to get tested then by default they have to telecommute. schools in Academia have to deal with Mei sations and vaccines going back Generations this just makes more of the private sector come into play.

Wait until the anti-vaxxers start with their refusal to get vaccinated...

Pretty good graphic showing the rate of cases for many states. If you open it up large and then use a ruler as a straight edge, you can see signs of beginning to crest.

However, still too early to triumphantly claim it's working as there is a significant backlog of testing to go through.

Pretty obvious that it would slow down due to the stay at home guidelines. Kinda like if I go on a diet Im of course gonna lose weight. The big question is what happens when Im off the diet. Does anyone even have a plan of what to do when it goes down to an acceptable level? Shouldnt that be in works like yesterday?
