Can anybody come up with a logical explanation for why Baker determined package stores are "essential", while POT shops are not?

I know of Chinese people who are avoiding Chinese restaurants right now to stay safe. Heck, I know of Chinese people who are even avoiding Chinese grocery stores right now. It is not bigotry but to me it is borderline paranoia. You're just as likely to catch the coronavirus right now from shopping at Stop and Shop or Market Basket as ordering takeout from a Chinese restaurant. Still, if you must choose between which place to go, then perhaps avoiding all restaurants and go shopping at grocery stores for healthier food options for the time being may be the better choice.

I read somewhere that upwards of 1 in 8 people are dependent on alcohol. Unfortunately, it's probably a strategic decision to stop people from increasing hospital demands by detoxing on their own.

Exactly. Makes perfect sense. Putting extreme alcoholics on detox all at once can overwhelm a already overburdened system.

It's pretty sad, but it makes sense.

Alcohol dependency. Withdrawal symptoms can actually be life threatening. Many people probably don't even realize they are "functioning alcoholics"

Baker seems pretty fired up during this latest press conference

I personally know of people with an alcohol dependency, of which their marijuana is the one thing keeping them from resorting back to booze. I'm worried about what's going to happen to them now.

Medical is essential. Recreational is not.

If this keeps up long term, buying a grow-tent might be a good option.

May not be practical of course, and not fulfil an immediate need.

Correct, but some of these people I speak of have been relying on the recreational stores.
