Total red herring. If someone doesn't eat Chinese foods for health reasons or because they don't like it, they wouldn't mention specifically avoiding it to a virus concern.

DUH.

For instance, a friend of mine the other day said on Facebook that a group of young punks came up to her and started to fake sneeze and claim "Oh you're making me sick!" just because she was Chinese. We still have a lot of bias, bigotry, and social-cultural insecurity here in North America even among groups you wouldn't even think would exhibit such behavior. It all stems from institutional segregation which can be found all across the continent.
I know exactly what you mean. Last cowardly racist act like that I have witnessed, was a couple years ago by a bunch of youths in what is now considered a gentrified/"enlightened" section of Boston. I definitely seen some ugly stuff growing up, but I thought this was a whole new level of ignorance and naivety. I guess you could say it's fortunate nobody got (physically) hurt, that wasn't always the case "back in the day". But people then at least knew their place.

There’s likely more discrimation towards Asians than Italians because the virus originated in China.

It depends heavily on why you're not going to a Chinese restaurant. If it's because of the slim chance someone might have been to China recently, then yeah, you're racist. The likelihood of the high income person behind you in line having recently traveled for vacation to China is probably higher. Hell, I prefer shopping at the Asian market right now because even BEFORE coronavirus, their staff was likely to be wearing masks and gloves which helps prevent spread.

Are you also avoiding Irish restaurants because their staff was more likely to be partying in Southie as the disease spread like wildfire?

This of course does not count anyone who is avoiding all restaurants, even takeout, right now. I'm included in that myself and look forward to not cooking for a long time after this is all over.

You were lambasting anyone and everyone who said they wouldn't eat Chinese food in your earlier rants.

Not to mention being the FIRST one to post about a Chinese restaurant in a Coronavirus thread.

For the users on here who cannot be bothered to review data or apply basic critical thinking, I’ve compiled two simple charts which explain why governors, such as Charlie Baker, are willing to implode their economy with heavy handed self isolation measures. See below.

https://imgur.com/a/0vxTnkE

If you apply some simple math, you’ll notice the projected number of deaths for the U.S. is somewhere north of 6 million, or about 17000% more deaths than the annual influenza ... “just the flu”, right?

Now, hopefully the actions being taken will significantly lower the infection curve, but the point stands - without effective isolation measures, hospitals would be catastrophically overrun in the U.S.

Let us not ask Grandma to die for the DOW.

You fail at reading comprehension.

That is NOT what I wrote at all. I was blasting bigots that purposefully avoided specifically Chinese restaurants because of the virus. Not someone that doesn't like Chinese food at all, or doesn't want to eat out at all, or not even someone that doesn't like the mediocre (at best) Chinese food served around here.

I don’t know of any Irish restaurants other than the corrib in west Roxbury. Are you saying everybody in Southie is Irish? Lol. The parade was cancelled you know that right?

Yes I’m sure there are people avoiding Chinese restaurants right now because they fear someone working there recently was in China. If you read my other posts you’d see that I’m not going to any restaurants at all.

Oh come on. So anyone who avoids a Chinese restaurant right now is a bigot? Get a life.
