I'm reading a book right now where the author believes that one day we will look at alcohol the cape at we do cigarettes and drinking will become a thing of the past. I think we have a looong way to go but alcohol really can and does cause a lot of problems. It causes more deaths than cancer and has been linked to a variety of cancers.

IMO, your idea of penalizing lifestyle choices seems reasonable, but I think it’s a rather disastrous way to distribute vaccines/healthcare. Introducing anything which attempts to gate via ‘virtuous living’ quickly becomes a biased crapshoot. Who’s more deserving of a Covid-19 vaccine: an ICU RN who smokes 2 packs a week and is the primary care taker of a disabled husband, or an underemployed single man with a rape charge who consumes kale smoothies and works out daily? Multiply this by 6+ million people in MA. Have fun playing God.
But here's one screen I'd like to see: Anyone who has gone on record in social media saying that the coronavirus is a hoax, or has railed against masks/hygiene/social distancing, automatically gets denied the vaccine.

So how does one get to the top of the line to get a vaccine if you are 65+? Apparently some in that group are already getting their second shot.

Lol. Or get fat?

My brother in law has coronavirus right now. He's a recovering alcoholic who apparently relapsed last week, he's obese, he's a former smoker (but who knows, could be actively smoking. He's done liver damage to himself from drinking but apparently he's doing ok. Fingers crossed but i guess it's possible to get corona while fat and in poor health and not need to get on a ventilator.

'We don't have as many doses as we would like now for states like New York, for other states claiming to have run out of the vaccine,' Dr. Rochelle Walensky [new head of the CDC] said on Fox News Sunday. 'Right now, that is the pressure point that I am feeling and by the end of March or so I really do hope our production scale has scaled up dramatically and that we actually have way more than we have right now'
