Yeah, that's a sign that there is unused vaccination capacity right next door.

It might be pretty a sudden change to where it goes from shortage to glut. 65+ is pretty much done and 50-64 is at 50% and a large chunk of the remaining in that age group should be done this week.

I was at Gillette yesterday (for Hot Wheels) and got to see their vaccine distribution setup. It was definitely packed with lots of people going in and out. Impressed by the numbers.

I keep getting more emails about more availability. Stop and shop, Walgreens, Walmart, etc. I even made myself a physical on Friday and they asked if I wanted to make an appointment for the vaccine as they had availability.

I definitely think availability is increasing and at some point will plateau shortly.

Over half of the state is under age 50 (age 40 if you don't factor out children). If we struggled to roll out vaccines to the smaller first groups, I can't imagine it's suddenly going to be better with the younger crowds. It should have been smooth sailing getting the geriatric phases vaccinated if they expect the main waves of adults to go smoothly.

It took us 4 months to get to 3 million, there's another 3 million 20-55 in MA that all are about to become eligible, and we think we can do all of them in 2 months? I'll believe it when I see it.

I have an appointment mon at CVS, but this will be my 5th attempt as I had to cancel the other 4. (3 for schedule conflicts and one because it was J&J and I wanted Pfizer)

Maybe this is one case where being out in the suburbs is an advantage. I've yet to get one email offering availability in Boston.

When I try to book one at CVS, all locations within a reasonable distance are 'lol, that's cute' for availability. B&W keeps telling me to be patient and that someday I will be invited to an appointment. I keep hearing Hynes has some availability but I've yet to be offered an option to make an appointment there, either.

They are doing 270k a week first dose and the Red States are running out of people already. 20-55 is well over a mill first dose by now.

You might be right about that. I actually helped a few coworkers book appointments out in the 95-495 belt region. Perhaps it is a little more difficult the closer in towards Boston you go.

I share your skepticism. Due to my part-time employment in CT, I was able to sign up there on Mar 1, because I saw MA signups being a cluster. Got my 2nd shot on Mar 31, and glad that I opted to go that route. I do think the situation in MA is better now, and NH opening up will help, but the demand here is very high.

But the infrastructure has been expanding and improving - that's why the numbers being vaccinated per week has been trending up.

Far fewer than 50% of 50-64 year olds got the first dose in MA so far, and nobody in that age group got the second dose yet (unless they have two comorbidities), because 60-64 became eligible to make a vaccine appointment just under three weeks ago, and 55-59 became eligible just under one week ago. People 50-54 are not even eligible to make the vaccine apointment in MA yet (again, unless they have reasons other than age). Less than 50% of 50-65 year olds in MA will be fully vaccinated this month. Far from being done this month, let alone this week.
