I checked the indicies and the NAO has just shot up four standard deviations above average to go along with a positive AO. The PNA is also still negative. The La Nina appears to be fast dissipating in the Pacific as SSTs are already warming above average off the South American coast. If we could break the constant storm parade in the Pacific down for just a few days the cold air could dislodge from Alaska. The pattern continues to not deliver in that regard, though.

Maybe they prefer the warmer coastline. However, the skunk cabbage is starting to pop here. Next the "spring peepers" should be out, too. I thought I heard them one warm day last week or so ago.
I saw the first robins on Jan. 24 at a spot near the Shoreline Greenway Trail where I always see them first. Now they are around in the neighborhoods, hopping around on lawns. Hope you see them soon. Red-winged blackbirds stay near wetlands around here, have not seen one yet this year. But every day is getting nicer and nicer. Hope it is a good spring for everyone.

I finally saw a robin, just about an hour ago. And the spring peepers (tree frogs) are out.

We do have a lot of woods around us, with wetlands, but we just don't get the red-winged blackbirds. I wish we did. A couple of other birds that we don't have and it seems strange, are sparrows and mockingbirds. But the lack of sparrows doesn't bother me.

We have flying squirrels. Neighbors had seen them several times over the years but I was doubtful, then I found a dead one that a cat had killed.

Full scale blowtorch event throughout the East next week as heights look to remain between 546-552 at the 500mb. With mixing that means tempeartures in the 60s yet again. The ridge off the coast in the Atlantic looks to be persistent. This means above average temperatures continue indefinitely. I have never seen a weather pattern like this and I've been studying weather patterns for quite a long time.

Even the lows next week are only in the 40's. This weather is fantastic!

Time to catch up a little. Life and pet health getting in the way. Good timing while nothing is happening.

Georgous weather, blue skies, not too hot, cool nights. I'll take these. But yeah, its amazing how this above average continues on.

Keep this in mind... If we dont moisten up the ground 3 things come out of that.
  • Thunderstorms weaken and rainfall isnt as heavy because T-Storms thrive on ground level moisture.
  • Heat waves will rapidly increase and It will be Hotter than forecast as we'll see spikes in daytime temps. So potentially Hot - Dry Summer on tap if we cant get ground hydrated.
  • Brush fires will be common and a risk

Loving these 60 degree days coming up. I've been watching weather for a long time. It's only a matter of time before the pattern completely flips and we can get way below normal temps. Hopefully it doesn't flip until late June/early july and we get a really warm spring.

Looks like a cold start this morning and a seasonably cold day, then a little above normal tomorrow, then it's another warm blast all week! (60s possibly 70 on one or two of the days).

If you believe Accuweather's 15 day forecasts (and I don't, as just yesterday they were "ending" the warm wave with flurries and 30s/low 40s on the 23rd), after today it's 60s to near 70 with no end in sight!
