MovingSouthGal.......If you get a boarding house in MB your husband will be close to a lot of strangers. Many you don't know, some you won't want to know. It will be worse then one housekeeper around. What does he think about " a lot" of strangers.

As I mentioned in the past, I got the capital city newspapers to get a general feel for the state, especially the economy, as some of that will trickle through the entire state. At some future time, I will get the MB paper.
I haven't made it all the way through this thread but there are a couple of things I want to point out.

Washington State beaches are very different from ours. Firstly, the ocean water in the north Pacific is mostly unswimmable without a wet suit. Our water gets into the mid 80s during the summer and rarely falls below 60 degrees in the winter. Their beaches aren't swimming beaches.

Secondly, The State paper isn't indicative of what Myrtle Beach is like. Columbia is a true southern town and The State paper is representative of what that is. Myrtle Beach is a melting pot and our year round population is now mostly people from the Northeast and not from the south.

engine......It took us one month. I learned from past mistakes these things......
Get the best realtor in your area, someone goho and full time
Stage, and stage again.....no extras or collections anywhere. Neutral colors, no wallpapers....
Look like a model home
Price the home as low as you can in this market, being high just wastes time.

blueherons....your right on Washington State I was always trying to swim there in the summer, the ocean is just not made for it there, nor the weather.

MB is a melting pot, but I find the same in PA. In our area of PA we get a ton of NJ and NY transplants. There are lots of states like that anymore.

WA state is either cold or wet or both. Beautiful place, but if you're an outside type, it can be "daunting"! Guess it's what you're used to! Guess I'm spoiled here in TX, flip flops and shorts 9 mos out of the year!

Hard to find an acre in the area but there are some housing develpments with their "own access to the back waterways". Kayaking with alligators just doesn't work for me. But lots of flat land for cycling, so thats great.

Hi all.

I found this thread in researching the Little River area for relocating. If everything goes right, if the mortgage rates stay low -- I am hoping from moving from... PA to this area. Like most, this long winter took the last of my patience.

I was looking in the FL area, but the overall heat and lack of seasons threw me.

So add me to your list, please. Right now, I'm preparing some projects to complete on the home prior to listing it... and, finger's crossed, we should be heading down that way right after Christmas.

We do need to make a group of transplants!

Any suggestions for areas in Little River/MB to avoid completely if purchasing? What about homes in Longs? I need a medium-sized yard for my dogs, so condo's and townhomes are out of the question.

If you feel more comfortable, send me a private email.

Crabbing, here I come!
