I am relocating to South Carolina for business in the Carolina Forest area and would like to know of best places to live for professional African Americans who are accustomed to city life and culture with relatively short commute to work.

If you are working in CF, that would be a good place to start for housing....lots of choices. Unfortunately, you will not find anywhere in MB to be anything like city life and city culture. It's a great place to live if you like small/mid sized cities (which I do). But, for someone coming from a large city and wants the same atmosphere, it's going to be a huge disappointment. There are some nice shows and talented local theater, but not as many and most are not on par with larger cities.

You might also consider Grand Dunes as it's relatively close to CF and would probably contain more professionals.

Thank you very much for the help. I think I will rent a vacation property first while my things are still in storage before I sign a permanent lease in an area that may not suit my needs. Will start looking in the places you mentioned.
